The rents in Berlin are to be frozen in Berlin from 2020 for five years.

Violations can be punished with a fine of up to € 500,000.

The introduction of a Mietendeckels by the state of Berlin would be unconstitutional. This is the conclusion of a legal opinion by the international law firm Greenberg Traurig on behalf of the Federal Association of Independent Real Estate and Housing Companies (BFW).
